One of the good things about being able to be casual everyday, is the freedom to come up with just about anything that works (depending on my schedule, or the kids’ schedules, or a combination of both).
I’m just getting out of the mindset that what I wear should be easily washed and not too precious, because it’s getting spilled on at every turn.
I’m not sure how successful I’ve been. When the conversation of style came up with our eight-year-old daughter this past week, I said: Well, I can be stylish too, right? When I need to be? Her reply: No, mom. And not just no, but with an eye roll. Truth hurts.
This spring, I’ve been working on finding more pieces that make me feel less cobbled together, more put together. A nice blouse or tunic over jeans is my main focus. Like this one from Anthropologie. Or one from Madewell, which could double as a cover up all summer.
It’s been nice feeling a little bit more polished. Even when I don’t have to be.
